Top Makers Guidelines
The iDempiere project thrives thanks to the incredible contributions of its community. At the heart of this collaboration are the "Top Makers"—organizations that go above and beyond in supporting the project's growth and sustainability. These organizations are recognized for their active participation, adherence to open-source principles, and consistent efforts to give back to the community.
This list celebrates their invaluable contributions, from developing code and plugins to sharing knowledge, sponsoring features, and fostering transparency. Their dedication ensures that iDempiere remains innovative, accessible, and robust for users worldwide.
To maintain the integrity and value of this recognition, we have established clear guidelines for inclusion. Organizations that fail to uphold open-source principles or significantly reduce their engagement may be removed from the list. Some scenarios that could lead to removal include:
1. Inactivity in Contributions
An organization may be removed if it hasn't contributed code, bug fixes, documentation, or other valuable input for a continuous period of 6 months.
2. Minimal Engagement with the project
Removal if the organization has consistently failed to engage in community discussions (forums, mailing lists, triage meetings, etc.) for a set period, such as 6 months.
Participation reflects ongoing interest and commitment.
3. Violation of Community Guidelines
Immediate removal if an organization violates the iDempiere community code of conduct or guidelines, such as engaging in disruptive or unethical behavior.
4. Lack of Impactful Contributions
Removal if contributions are deemed minimal or non-impactful over a rolling evaluation period, such as two years.
5. Failure to Maintain Open Source Practices
Removal if the organization is found to use iDempiere extensively but keeps core functionality changes or former public plugins proprietary or hidden without valid reasons.
6. Evaluation by a Community Vote
Community members (founders, marketing committee, other top makers) may vote to remove an organization if a majority agrees they no longer meet the criteria of a top maker.
Additional Notes:
Grace Period: A grace period of 3 months is given before removal, allowing organizations to re-engage with the community if possible.
This approach ensures that the Top Makers list remains a true reflection of the most active, impactful, and community-oriented contributors. We are deeply grateful for their efforts and encourage others to follow their example in building a stronger iDempiere ecosystem.
