Distro expectation for the upcoming iDempiere 9
- We can encourage the distro maintainers to move at the same time as the project as it benefits iDempiere more tests, more use cases, more feedback, etc ... Not simple but preferrable.
- But should not be enforce, it can remain a friendly distro with and outdated version of iDempiere as long as the core does not diverge.
- @chuckboecking says there is good motivation to be a good steward of the iDempiere community. We need to encourage the beta to stable progression in a timely manner.
- (1) versioning and release orientation:
- 4-8 weeks to have a release stable after the new release of iDempiere is a recommended timeframe (not to be enforced)
Community days during November (RC)
- @druiz proposes two community days:
- 1) Test day: We should use the document we got from last year as a base, so the community can repeat the test that were done last year to see that everything is working as before. And create new ones
- 2) Plug-in test day - Announce simultanously with the release freeze that we will be purging the Available plugins page, giving time to plug-in developers to make necessary changes to run with the upcoming iDempiere 9. And then hold a plug-in test day to see which plug-ins are really usable and which ones do not comply with the guidelines
